Impact of COVID-19 on Statistics Canada publishing activities
In the context of the rapidly-evolving situation around the novel coronavirus (also known as COVID-19), Statistics Canada remains committed to providing Canadians with the information they need. The agency plans to continue releasing data from programs identified as ‘mission-critical’ to the proper functioning of the Government of Canada, and to the Canadian economy and society. All other data releases will be postponed until further notice.
The agency will continue to monitor the situation as it evolves, and may further adapt its publishing activities as needed.

Canada’s Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) Program is jointly administered by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). IRCC recently announced exemptions to travel restrictions to facilitate entry of TFWs into Canada. Employers using all streams of the program are able to make arrangements for workers to enter Canada. Further to the announcement of the exemptions to the travel restrictions, please find attached guidance for employers of temporary foreign workers regarding COVID-19.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is very aware of the disruptions COVID-19 pandemic is having across the supply chain around the globe including staff shortages, data collection and analysis capacity gaps and laboratory availability and is working diligently to maintain critical services . In light of these challenges we are extending the deadline for submitting data packages and applications for registration of urease and nitrification inhibitors by 120 days (3 months) till September 30th 2020. Should the crisis situation not be resolved by then the decision can be revisited at that time.
In the meantime, nitrification and urease inhibitor products currently on the market that are not currently registered will not be subject to compliance and enforcement activities

Finance Minister Bill Morneau, the Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, Mary Ng, and the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, Navdeep Bains, announced the details of the proposed Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy:
The Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy would apply at a rate of 75 per cent of the first $58,700 normally earned by employees – representing a benefit of up to $847 per week. The program would be in place for a 12-week period, from March 15 to June 6, 2020.
