Fertilizer Canada is Pleased to See an End to the West Coast Ports Strike

Statement from Karen Proud, President and CEO, Fertilizer Canada

Fertilizer Canada is pleased to see the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) have come to a tentative agreement to end the strike at the West Coast ports. We appreciate the work from the federal government and Minister O’Regan to end the strike and get goods flowing through the West Coast.

The strike underscores the importance of strengthening Canada’s supply chains to prevent disruption to trade and protect Canada’s reputation as a reliable and stable trading partner. The federal government must expeditiously implement supply chain initiatives, including the recommendations from the Final Report of the National Supply Chain Task Force and accelerate opening the Transportation Supply Chain Office announced in the 2023 budget.
