Fertilizer Canada Pleased to See Concerns and Recommendations Reflected in Senate Report, Keep Canada Moving

Statement from Michael Bourque, President and CEO, Fertilizer Canada

“Reliable, resilient supply chains are essential to Canada’s economic security, trade competitiveness, and export growth. Fertilizer Canada welcomes the release of the Senate Committee on Transport and Communications’ report, Keeping Canada Moving: Labour, Management and Supply Chain in the Rail and Maritime Sector.”

“The fertilizer industry depends on efficient and dependable transportation networks to move products to domestic and international customers. Labour disruptions that halt rail and port operations have significant consequences for our sector, disrupting fertilizer shipments, creating uncertainty for farmers, and undermining Canada’s reputation as a reliable trading partner. Fertilizer Canada respects the collective bargaining process and supports recommendations that strengthen it while helping to prevent disruptions and better balance bargaining rights with broader economic impacts.”

“Fertilizer Canada appreciated the opportunity to appear before the Committee and is pleased to see many of the concerns and recommendations raised by our industry reflected in the report. We look forward to working with policymakers and stakeholders to strengthen Canada’s supply chains and support the continued movement of essential goods.”
